Engine Warning Light Flashing

Every now and then I like to "stretch my cars legs a bit", and whilst doing so today I have noticed that my engine warning light starts flashing when I go above 4k revs in 5th, as soon as I drop back under 4k revs it will stop flashing after a second. Any idea what this could be?
I couldn't hear any strange noises.

It needs to be scanned to find out what up
It's likely a faulty sensor.

Ah, thanks mate.
Taking it for a service at a local VW specialist in the next couple of weeks, will see if they can do anything there.

Took my car in for a service over the weekend and had this issue checked.
Turns out one of my spark plugs was misfiring, just in case someone has a similar problem and this pops up in the search results.
