Hi all. OK I know this is a bit premature, but as we'll e picking up the wife's new Polo Blue GT soon, I'll be doing a full detail when it arrives, that will also include removing the wheels to fully decontaminate them before sealing them. With that in mind, I usually put the car up on axle stands after jacking up with a trolley jack on the stock lifting points on the sills, however I only have experience of doing this with the VW MK5/MK6 Golf/Scirocco platforms not the 6R Polo.

Does anyone know where the best locating points are for putting axle stands safely after lifting, as the area around the sills (the strengthening plates for the stock jack), will be in use with the trolley jack lifting that particular corner, so where's the best place the axle stands to go please ?

Cheers

I'm affraid I can't help you with the answer. But could you post pictures when you find out and get the car up on the stands? :)

I have read you can get jack pads for the vw range of cars,I know you can get them from various uk suppliers and from the states. These are the type that are fitted and left in situ for anywork that involves using a 4 post lifting device in most workshops. Some of the write ups i have read dont advise lifting on an individual pad as in some cases it has damaged the floor pan ,i think this was on a golf gtd which would be a lot heavier than the polo taking the engine weight in to account.
