Vw polo GTI 6R MPG?

Hi all,
I haven't used this site for quite sometime. But, just a quick question.
I am currently changing jobs, so i will be traveling around 55 - 60 miles a day (motorway miles)
I currently drive a Clio 197. But i'm looking into purchasing a new Polo gti, what are they like on MPG in real life.
They claim mid 40's, but is this true?

I'm currently getting 32mpg.
It's all short trips and urban but with less than 900miles on the clock and a fairly heavy foot. I'm expecting it to continue to improve now that I'm using super unleaded exclusively and as the engine loosens up.
High 30s for urban driving on super unleaded is about the norm from my research although I have got the current mpg display to show 200

I drive to work one Monday stay there for the week and back on the Friday. 130 miles each way using premium unleaded and it varies between dual carriageway, motorway and single roads. 80mph normally on the dual carriageway and I've got anything between 43mpg to 47.5mpg. Driving around home areas and having a bit of fun then the mpg drops significantly - if you want to get good mpg for that work journey then it's easily done!

Get about 40 on the motorway and anything from 19-35 around town ! That's running stage 2 mods !

Same as above stage 2 mods gti and getting about 43mpg+ cruising at 70 on motorway
35mpg around town
12mpg fun time
they are good on fuel until you give it some!!!

i get any where from 12mpg very heavy right foot,
motorway around the 40ish mpg ,
im a stage 1 remap with 28000 mile on the clock,
i have had it upto 51mpg ultra light foot round the doors 30-40speed limits on a 11mile run .

Stage 1 CC Map and CAI - 9 miles town driving to work I get around 40 - 50 mpg. Motorway driving Mid 40's be gentle on the right foot. And as others say, Boost time between 15 - 20 mpg.
IMO for the performance you get out of these there a no brainer, plus only £125 - 130 a year road tax and cheap insurance = awesome

ive seen upto 45mpg( calculated brim to brim) when i owned mine they can be really economical

running stage 2+ mods
around town : 20 -30 mpg
cruising on highway (last trip 800km/500miles) : 46 mpg
worst i've seen was 16mpg
