Not aimed at specific cars, but the polo GTI in general. What comments have random people made about your GTI?

Over the years i've had:

'Sick'
'Very smart'
'Thats a nice Golf'
'Woow a race car' ( 5 year old boy passing by ha )
'Is it a golf'
'What mpg do you get from your Golf'

Used to have a DHL man deliver stuff to our address an ask me if i want to sell it.

Interested to hear what people think of the Polo GTI. Good or bad!

I've had a few amusing comments over the years of owning Polo GTIs

"Does the exhaust make it go faster?"
"Your car is too clean. It shows the rest of us up!"
"I used to have a Golf like that in the 80s"

2 people at work want first refusal on mine if I ever sold it!

I've had the 'Golf' thing too. The other day I pulled up at work and this biker guy told me it was fake 'they only did a Golf GTI' he says.

Same as most of you guys really.

The golf comments are always daft,I can't be bothered to correct people most of the time...Maybe reply with "Yeah she's a good runner my Polo" or something haha.

Had my windscreen changed a year or so back and the guy at workshop said he hadn't seen one so clean since around 2000 when they were about.

Place that refurbed my wheels knew what they were off and asked if they were going back on a Polo GTI i said they were,they wanted me to bring it down and they were pleased to see one being looked after.

Also the place that does my MOT past two years seem to really like it,my local VW specialist takes it there and says everytime he's taken it there they have a good look at it before starting which is nice.


I'm struggling to find it in me to ever part with it now.

The only comment i've had is " I didn't know they made a Gti Polo!"

Good to hear Brad. Not sure if I could get rid of mine. Would be tempted to run it into the ground. Especially what they're worth!

"is it really 13 years old" is one i get quite often and since adding air ride "is your suspension broken?"

Did you realise your rear wiper has fallen off?
Is that really a W plate?
Is that the standard the interior ?
I bet that goes well, there a 1.8T aren't they?

Always puts a smile on my face when you get interest, 95% of the time it's so amusing

Iv owned my little baby fpr 3weeks tomorrow, loving her to bits...
Had my first experience of the randoms asking about it the other day at tesco's.

Went shopping come out side and there was a group of 5 kids sat on there peds checking it out, as you do I walked over then unlocked her and got in... one of them plucked the balls to come over and ask about it...

He said what year is it, so I said 2001.. he looked amazed, saying it looks newer than that... then the all came over and just started chatting to me for bout half hour bout it, was quite fun.. felt loved ahaha...
They seemed like nice kids and really liked it even tho its still praticly standerd atm

Iv also had the guy at the vw garage ask me how long iv had it and what I did as it was a clean car for its age..

Loving this car and the amount love it gets from all types

My GTi is completely standatd apart from G60 steels on for the winter. At 33 I dont think I will be doing any major mods though (trying to buy a house!).
