Plasti Dip Alloys

Post by Gtimatt »

Its been a while boys and girls!, but since discovering plasti dip on youtube I thought I would give it a shot, now I'm no master painter by far but I'm pretty happy with the results. Whether they will last is another matter!

one thing i did notice is it seems to be quite fragile to sharp edges, see pic below

I gave this alloy 7 coats of plasti dip and a bit extra when i went over the scratch, I think it would take 3 cans to do all 4 wheels.

plastidipped my wheels last summer, have it over a year on my stock GTI wheels.
still in verry good condition, but it needs to be sprayed thick, otherwise it gets loos on the edges or peel off etc.
i bought a wheel spray kit from plasti dip, 4 cans, 1 for each wheel.
i made it just but it's thick enough.
made it true winter and summer and still look like i dipped them last week

thinking of dipping my 17 OZ superleggera's in orange blaze

5. As long a you have a relatively clean place to do em where it's not windy , as long as you put enough coats on it evens out. Just make sure you turn the wheel so you get in all the places. And be careful with any spray that goes in the bolt holes, one of mine had a layer in there and when I tightened the wheel it twisted the plasti dip and I had to redo that section

Does this peel off too like the item TehSniper showed? as thats £50 for 2 cans and this plastic dip seems to be a bit cheaper.
