Linkage problem?

I've just got the other GTI going after a long winded gearbox change due to everything and anything getting in the way of progress.

It selects 2nd onwards fine but 1st and reverse are a complete cow, reverse is really bad tbh. I put the linkage back exactly as it came out but the 'box has been rebuilt so I appreciate it won't be perfectly rigged now.

The manual says a dealer needs to jig it up!? Is this true or can the home DIYer do it nowadays? :?

Cheers

It can be adjusted at home but it's very difficult to get it right if it's misaligned as it's on an x and y axis adjustment mechanism.

Is the adjustment all done in the link with the knurled nut? The other connection is a fixed point I'm assuming as it's just a split pinned peg for want of a better description.

Thanks again

The main adjustments is done on the slider with the square lugged nut that can slide backwards and forwards. There is another bit for more detailed adjustment them even more adjustment inside on the gearstick

Cheers Alex, I'll get it back on jacks and have play.
