Whining noise.

Just jumped back into my car and noticed it's started whining when revving both in gear and in neutral.
Am I rite in thinking that it's probs going to be the gearbox??

What is the milage of the car?
If it does it in neutral I am positive it wont be the gearbox it is more than likely the alternator I had exactly the same thing at 80,000 miles new alternator and no more whining!

Do you happen to still know the part number please?
Cars done 63k and been 240bhp for around 7k if that would make any difference to expected lifetime?
