6R heavily misting up.

Hey guys and gals just wanted to put something to you. As winter is upon us and the cold mornings get more frequent, has anyone experienced their polo 6R getting misted up more than it should be? Mine is terrible, I don't go a day without keeping the aircon on full blast with recirculation to try and dry out the cabin and reduce the misting. I've also tried auto glym glass polish with anti misting properties and even bought some silica gel sachets to try and take some moisture out of the air. But still to no avail.

Anyone else had problems? I'm thinking of giving it to vw to get to the bottom of it under warranty because there is no way it should be misting up as easy as it is. It's only 6 months old!

My 6R GTI does this all the time mate. In fact all 3 polo's I have had (56 plate 9n3 GTI and 58 plate 9n3 TDI sport) all did it., Guess its just a common design flaw! :(

Mine is not too bad. I don't recirculate as this moves the same (wet) air around no? Let some fresh air in and even crack a window half an inch to let the vapour out.

Yeah but if you recirculate with the aircon on it's supposed to dry the cabin air out.

Try drying out the system. Switch a/c off and put on maxheat and maxblower for a good half an hour when up to temp. Moisture is trapped in the system a by product of using a/c.

This is so weird! Mine only just went in last week to have this sorted out!
Apparently its a notorious problem for Golfs and Polos so VW do a heater upgrade to sort it out. Mine now works really well - just how it should do! It was exactly like how yours sounded originally!
Just ring up the dealer and tell them the problem and ask about it. It doesn't take long to do which is good news and is under warranty. I just hope the dealer does agree to do it as some can be really awkward sometimes. Luckily for me my family has been going to the dealer for 30 years so we have a good relationship down there. So what was the upgrade they did? Do you know? Could you find out??

Might help other folks if they knew what was required!!

Yeah I would be interested in knowing too just to make sure they know what I'm talking about when I go to the dealership. I've tried drying the system (a/c off, full blast at full temp 30-40 mins) still when I got in this morning it starts misting up

I often find putting the demist on clears the windscreen on full fan, but when i turn it off, even after 30+ driving, it will steam up again.
I would like to know more about this heater upgrade, is it covered under warranty?

Can I ask how recently it was and confirm it was definitely a 6r polo? What reg is your car?

Lol a lot can be said about the subtle difference between update and upgrade

You guys have nothing to lose - it takes 10 mins to do and is free. Plus it worked for perfectly for me (as long as you go to the dealers who aren't funny about things like that  )
