Wheel Rubbing with 15" x 6.5

Hi all,
This is my first post so be kind
I have a 2002 9n and just fitted some 15" x 6.5" Cades Eros Alloys with 195x55 tyres. The rears fit perfectly but I'm having some issues with the fronts. I first tried them without spacers but it was clear to see that there was zero clearance for the calipers. I then tried 5mm spacers, took it down the road and back only to have a rubbing noise coming from the front. Naturally I thought it was the caliper clearance so I fitted 10mm spacers and I'm still having the same issue. I jacked it up and spun the wheels and there is plenty of clearance but what I did notice is that the spacers were wedged against the calipers. Has anyone else had this issue?
Also im looking to drop her 40-45mm, can you recommend some lowering springs? I know its a cheep way out but coilovers for a £1k car cant be justified. I have been looking at Eibach and Bilstein so far.
