Coilovers for VW Polo 6R?
Coilovers for VW Polo 6R?
Hey guys. This is my first ever post on this site. I have sticked round here on this site for quite a bit now just chilling and looking what peoiple do to their Polo's and what's the site is all about, and now I need some help from the community.
So, time has come for my first ever purchase of coilovers. I'm looking for something that balance between good quality and reasonable price tag. Nothing like high end track spec coilovers! Day to day use. Have read reviews on FK's, Jom's, TA TECHNIX and cannot decide between those.
I want my car to handle a little stiffer, have a reasonable damper ( stiffer than standard ) and drop around 50-60mm.
Thanks guys

AP coilovers will probably be your best bet in my opinion
Re: Coilovers for VW Polo 6R?
Avoid FK, Jom are supposed to be slightly better but nothing worth buying and havent heard alot about TA but your best bet is to not bother for now and save up and get either Weitec, St, Ap or Bilstein to name a few good options
My problem is i cant decide between ST or AP now

If bilsteins are affordable then there is absolutely nothing better!
If under a slight budget then id go AP....or if your looking for a sensible drop / i.e. if you have 17 inch wheels
Id get a 25/40 H&R spring kit ...thats what ive done and i cant fault it in any way

£90 more expensive than Ap, so if your saving from £200 for some FK's to £500 Ap coilovers you might aswell save that few extra £ and get bilsteinsgreypolo9n3 wrote:If bilsteins are affordable then there is absolutely nothing better!

pretty much same thing
the b14 and b16 are the best...ive driven a courtesy car with b16's when mine stayed overnight and didnt realise it was on coilovers until i took a look underneath..i thought it was stock ride
Re: Coilovers for VW Polo 6R?
You see guys I'm a full time college student and got a part time job which I work 3 - 4 days a week and hardly keeping up to pay of stuff I already have. Ap's are £400+ and that's way out of my budget, but I don't want to fell in this trap of "buy cheap buy twice" so I think I will just stick to H&R lowering springs, stick some Audi 17's or Rota's on the 6R and enjoy the ride.
Just to clarify, do I still need to purchase shortened Drop Links with the lowering springs and should I upgrade my mounts and bushes?
Cheers

H&R 25/40 are a nice drop, got them fitted to mine, comfortable but firm and alot less body roll.
No need for droplinks or bushes just make sure you get your tracking done

Hello i saw your post about the h& r lowering springs are you saying that one set of springs are 25mm and the other set are 40mm as i have just bought a 2010 polo which has 17" fox Racing wheels on and need to lower it. I dont want to go down the coilover route just yet wanted to start of with springs.

The 25/40 means that the springs will lower the car 25mm in the front and 40mm in the rear.0123James123 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 11, 2018 3:21 pm Hello i saw your post about the h& r lowering springs are you saying that one set of springs are 25mm and the other set are 40mm as i have just bought a 2010 polo which has 17" fox Racing wheels on and need to lower it.
