Exhaust back box options

Evening all
My back box is just starting to blow so I have been wondering what my options are. If I wanted something a bit sportier could I just cut a recess in the bumper ?
Would I need to make up special rubbers/hangers ?
ETA:
Looking underneath it just seems like the end pipe turns right and the brackets are all there so it seems like you can just cut out the valance and have a backbox with straight pipes. Would be interested in comments though.
