Just had a call from customer services informing me that I am booked in for an oil change for my DSG box. Apparently it's going from non mineral to mineral oil.

So expect a call!

Heard about this back along but seemed to be only in warmer climes. Interesting to see if I or anyone else gets contacted.

She told me that ALL dealers are aware of the issue so I'd get yours booked in- I wouldn't even wait for the call.

Thanks mate. Was it VWUK or your dealer?

VWUK. But they told me to ring my local dealer straightaway and they would definitely be aware of the issue. Which they were.

Email reply

"Good morning Ben,

There are no outstanding workshop campaigns on your vehicle.

Many thanks"

these gearbox's don't actually have oil levels in them !

they are oiled when manufactured but are a dry gearbox !

the tiguans and tourags which have the alternate 7 speed dsg are the ones being recalled !

The clutch is dry. The gear box definitely has oil in.

I was told back in December that this 'recall' was for warmer climates only.

For the UK it's probably not essential and not worth a full scale recall. If I was VW I'd handle it as part of the normal service schedule but also offer it to anyone that asks outside this schedule.

As far as I can see its only been a real issue in a small number of cases in very hot countries.

The way I see it is that if it's offered, you'd best take them up on it. Should anything fail later on you're covered.

Confirmed. 2013 GTI in for a limp mode issue, and on booking in this morning they also need to look at the DSG as part of a recall. I had not been contacted yet.

My 11 plate was in for it yesterday. Only found out after taking to VW to a misfire issue
