Posted this on another forum, but not had a response just yet.
Anyway it seems like i've fallen prey to the polo timing chain slip after a routine oil change. The car is a 2002 1.2 with only 53k on the clock.
Ive read on the 'interweb' that this is a common problem with them,I just can't believe a simple oil change has wrecked my engine!
A local garage has said it might just need a chain,,it may not of damaged the valves,,how likely is this???
Is the job to replace the chain difficult?? any special tools required etc..Im not a mechanic,,though 5 yrs ago the head gasket went on a cavalier I had,and I managed to do it via the haynes, put new valves in,new cambelt on etc.
Ive looked online for a how to but can't find anything.,,just really annoyed with vw over a simple oil change.
