buying a mk2

Hi all,
Following on from a previous thread on here.. I'm currently viewing 1043 MK2's and am unfamiliar with problems on Pierburg carbs and the distributors of this era.
Any advice on how to identify carb/distributor that requires attention?
I was pointed towards the www.polo3.co.uk site, unfortunatly the web hosting company they use ( z8.invisionfree.com) also hosts a lot of unregistered porn sites.
The network I have to access the internet through blocks the entire z8.invisionfree.com domain. Show stopper unless I start paying for my own internet connection.
