When I plug in with my VCDS Lite I get the "no response from controller message" on everything I test. But at the same I can hear both headlights adjusting until the error message pops up. What on earth is going on?

Tested the laptop, cable and VCDS on a golf Mkv and it's working fine - so I can assume there is an issue with my car and the comms with the ECU. any ideas what this might be and the fix?

Also, I think the abs maybe something to do with it - it seems not to be working but without showing the warning light on the dash. I'm confused.

You might have a blown fuse. There's a fuse that can affect the diagnostics from memory

I'd check every fuse and see how you go

All in working order, any other causes?

Faulty ECU on the rare occasion can cause it
Make sure there no damaged wires going to the diagnostic socket .

How do I get to the wiring for the diagnostics - still have this problem. So annoying, it's worked for years now it's just totally f****d.

Disconnected the battery - still no joy.
I was thinking - if the ecu had become faulty surely I'd have some symptoms? Such an infruriating problem because the fix is totally invisible
