6C Polo Servicing & Warranty

Hi Guys,
I have owned my 60 bhp 1.0 SE 3 door Polo for nearly 2 months now, in which time I have clocked up just over 3000 faultless miles. It's been a fantastic little car so far, handling my 80 miles a day commute with ease (and never returning less than 60 mpg).
I didn't take a servicing plan out with Volkswagen as I planned to get the car serviced at my local garage and have them stamp the service book (have always used them for servicing and MOT's).
However I am a little confused regarding voiding the cars warranty.
Is it correct that if the garage uses genuine Volkswagen service parts/consumables and strictly sticks to the servicing schedule (which is in the service book), then the cars warranty should be unaffected.
I'm not used to modern cars (in fact this is my first ever modern car, I've only ever had old Triumph's!).
Also, my local garage doesn't do plug in diagnostics. Does this matter?
I plan on keeping the car long term (until it falls apart) so the cars future value is of no importance to me.
Many thanks,
Jordan
