Hi, i´ve a beta radio with 4 speakers but all of them in the front, so i´ve decided to upgrade my radio with two rear speakers, the problem... volkswagen service, charges me around 500€, I want to put it myself but i don´t know how i must connect the speakers because my radio only have two channels, so my question is: make the connection in serial or in parallel with the front speakers. Thanks... greetings from Spain.

in my dad's transporter we have a similar setup: front speakers are connected to "right" channel and rear speakers are connected to "left" channel. this way the stereo output is messed up a little but you can use left-right balance as a fader (as a front-rear balance).

hope this helps!

I might have to question that - I've always been told to wire the speakers in series - this is because the radio sees twice the resistance rather than half (in parallel).

You are more likely to damage the headunit and speakers by giving it too low resistance - hence why good amps are rated at 2 ohms stable, and average ones are 4 ohm stable.

however, I think the standard vw tweeter / woofer setup is in parallel?!

go figure!
