Hi,

New here so please be gentle!! :-)

I recently purchased a 9N Polo 1.2...I think the engine has been changed but not 100% sure.

There is no boot sticker and the engine mount has 'FOX' written on it in marker pen!! How can I find the engine number and check for sure.

V5 says 'not known' where it states engine number.

Cheers

Welcome

Its etched onto the block, normally at the front, and also on a sticker on the cam/timing chain cover to the left of the engine

Engine number

Engine code and engine number can be found on the sticker -arrow- on the toothed belt guard.

The engine code is also on the vehicle data plate and on the crankcase above the gearbox.

The engine number consists of up to nine characters (alphanumeric).

The first part (maximum 3 characters) makes up the “engine code”, and the second part (6 characters), the “serial number”. If more than 999,999 engines with the same engine code are produced, the first of the six characters is replaced with a letter.
