1998 1.6 Auto Polo Won't change into 4th Gear!

My 1998 Polo is very jerky when changing gear up and down but also it won't go into 4th gear!
Any suggestions?

Have you had the gearbox oil changed?

No I haven't, I thought it was factory sealed? It's only done 67k miles

No, it's changeable
I would suggest a change of gearbox oil first off
