Today i set about replacing the hub on my car - what a f-ing disaster!

Problem 1 - i have a camber bolt in the top strut bolt hole to correct my neg camber issue, this is rounded completely so i can't shift the sod. Best course of action? i just need to rotate it 180degrees and the knuckle on the bolt will release it, nut is already off.

Problem 2 -



can i drill out the old glide / slide pin and do vw sell replacements (the pin sheared as i tried to remove it from the carrier housing)?

what a s**t day! my car is currently on bricks and i'm on shanks pony!

I would personally get an acetylene torch on it and give it some heat - itll come out in no time with that and a pair of grips

Slide pin is available as a seperate part, but im not sure which part you are after as the pic is confusing me.

it's the pin under '2, 13, 4' on the right of the brackets in your illustration with the rubber gromit, which receives bolt 4 - the pin that slides along the carrier housing

if it's available to buy it'd save me buyng another caliper. But do you reckon id be able to drill out the snapped off bit in carrier?

Thats a slide pin kit which should be suitable - thought I would measure the good one you have before ordering.

The slide pins are made of a rather high tensile steel - I would get someone to heat up the carrier and the pin should just fall out as they are a push fit. Normally the grease dries up then they seize in place

You might be able to tap the center, and screw a self tapper in first to give you something to pull on.

i'm better off, money wise, buying a second hand caliper / carrier. crazy how dear they are!

I think you might be right there buddy

A slide pin from any 256mm lucas caliper should work though - maybe worth a trip to the scrappy
