Posting and moderators

I'm new to this forum and have tried to post a couple of replies to currently running threads. But each time I have done a post, I get a 'moderator will check this message' reply and to date, nothing I have written has been posted. Is this the norm here ?

We approve your first few posts as sadly the forum gets heavily hit by spammers and it's the only way we can keep it clear for genuine members
