polishing rocker cover

can any 1 help me i was looking to polish my rocker cover but i havent much knowledge in this area

i haven't done it myself, but i believe it would take an extremly long time!
i would think u would have to remove the existing paint, and using wet n dry paper, gradualy work ur way down the grades for a smooth finish, then some crome polish!
there is the possibility of laquring it after that but thats where my ideas end!

The short version of the story on polishing things is this:
Sand using 180, 240, etc etc up to 1500 if you can get it, or as mad as 3000 if you feel like it. Start sanding with the next level as soon as you've sanded out all the marks from the last level.
Get some polishing blocks (coarse + fine) and some cloth wheels. Fit the wheels to a drill and follow the polishing blocks' instructions. Go mad. Don't stay in one position too long, as you'll create dents. Keep it moving.
Finish with some hand polish, to give it a mirror finish.
