Well done, hopefully you'll get the practical soon as well Did they ask any awkward questions? I got a few first aid questions that I didn't have a clue about, as well as something about a toucan crossing which I'd never heard of before.. still managed to get 34/35 with a few lucky guesses

I think one or two lucky guesses paid off. There were some questions I didn't have a clue about. One that stood out was:

"How do you know when you are driving on ice?"

Options were:

Tyres make a rumbling noise
Steering becomes heavier
Tyres make no noise
Steering becomes lighter

I went for Tyres make no noise and streering becomes lighter, though having never driven on ice I wouldn't know, nor do I think such a thing is mentioned in the highway code.

I think u got the 2 right answers, its what I would have chosen lol

Personally I would have said "depends how bumpy the ice was" before I answered what noise the tires would make But yeah, light steering and quiet tires sounds pretty much right to me..

the question is more like "how do you know when you've hit a patch of black ice at 40mph" (er, i mean, they should have written it that way)... which is kind of useful to know but probably won't save your soon to be redistributed ass. Should be pretty obvious a lot of the time when you're driving on ice ("the road is white, it's bloody freezing out there, and the car revs but goes nowhere on hill starts") but the tyres and steering probably wont be noticable if you're travelling at a sensible speed for the condition.... ie half your usual pace or less.

I dunno if i've found much use for many of the things i had to learn for my theory test... then again much of the "essentials" (stuff thats been in the highway code for 20+ years, eg keeping left on the motorway but right when walking on country lanes, staying out of yellow boxes, how to correct a skid) are tattooed on the brain as i read a lot of the good book from when i was little bizzarely my nan had one on her bookshelf in between the snoopy compilations (she didn't drive...) and what better way to get a car-head child to sit quietly in the corner - that and the inexplicable "motorway" game i think she still has.
(whereas the newer fangled stuff just goes whizzzzzzz... over the head )

As for a toucan crossing, that's the one where it has a bike lane across it as well as a footpath?? (and a little red/green light with a cycle pic on it, as well as a little man - i'm guessing the designers were on acid to think that a cyclist can't realise that the red crossing light applies to *anyone* crossing the road..).... tch tch, need to read up that theory coursebook again

.....still can't remember stopping distances and colours of cat's eyes on the motorway though, or hand signals for when your indicators are busted. As if you'd ever bloody need such information! Or anyone else would understand what your arm waving meant!
