Movement in the Gearbox

Hi there

Can anyone help me please.

Got my car back after the pedal box replacement and the movement I had in the gearbox prior to recall is still there!

If I rest my hand on the gear knob when driving, it moves about a bit.

Anyone else had this?

I though I read somewhere this was synonomous with the pedal box fault but as it's just been done I wondered if this is "normal".

Thanks in advance for any info!

:D

Yeah. It's normal as far as I know. Mine did it since I had it from new so I think it's just a 'feature' of the gear box rather than anything to do with the pedal box issue.

Yeah, mine dones that too...don't worry about it, there is nothing you can do about it! (Just don't put your hand on the gearstick or look in that general diection when accelerating, it helps!).

when put into 4th particularly, the synchro in the gearbox seems to take hold of the gear stick tighter and move it slightly in your hand. It like the gears are grabbed by the torque of the engine. It is normal for these Polo GTI cars.

Thanks everyone

That's reassured me. Was getting a bit worried that something was wrong.

Had my car a couple of months now and really love it. :D

Cool

It's nice to feel welcome!

My baby's looking excellent after 6 hours washing and polishing. That zimol really makes him look good.

Stored in the garage now out of the horrible rain.

When will it be nice enough to go for a drive.

Just got one of my alloys replaced by the dealer as corroded slightly. No questions they just did it.

Also got the internal plastic door handles replaced under warranty when I bought it as they were a little scratched.

Dealer has been really good in replacing warranty items, can't grumble at all except that it's taken a while to get everything done.

The black beast is gleaming and ready to go.

Got a new 16V Sport from the dealer as a loan car when pedal box done. Suffice to say I was glad when I got mine back. Seemed to take forever to get going. These little GTi's are well nippy!!!

:D
