Got my car back of the dealer today. and they offered to buy it. said they had three people inquire about it when it was sat outside waiting to be collected.(more than anything else on the forecourt that day.

Dealer said good ones are getting very rare especially with leather and VW is telling dealers to try and hold + increase their value by selling them for 8000-10000. as demand is higher than supplpy.

but to many garages and private sales are bringing prices down as they do not know true value of car.

I have noticed this, the prices for all VW GTI models tend to stay pretty high, infact the same can be said for most VW's they just hold their prices great.

What your saying is true, the problem is VW dealers never give you much more than the book price for buying the car, they just sell them for alot more. You would probably get a better deal selling it private than to a VW dealer imo, the leather ones are pretty rare indeed.
