Re: 6R Cruise Control Retrofit Problems

Post by VAG-Abound »

I was having problems working out which terminals, stalks, etc to use and whether I had the wiring correct. I could create a thread for every little question, but that would fragment things more so it seemed appropriate to add them somewhere that things were already being asked so people could discover problems they may not have thought about yet. If we don't include the answers it is just a thread of problems that may not help people in the future.

I drafted the last post in a separate document before pasting it to a post, so I won't call it wasted as I can use it elsewhere when needed.

Many thanks to everyone who helped get things working.

Re: 6R Cruise Control Retrofit Problems

Post by Ukasz »

Hello guys,
I have a problem with my cruise control retrofit.
First of all I added new wires according to the diagram below. I pluged the wire from interior into the 69 terminal ECU. Then I used VCDS to code the CCS in the engine tab (byte5) and BCM tab (byte 17).
Now, I'm getting the fault code of the engine module as below.
I checked measuring blocks 004 and it showed that the buttons on the CCS stalks work properly.
Are the wires from t41/2 and t41/3 necessary?

At the same time I was adding stalks with the TRIP button and it works perfectly.

Check the white wire that is shown in the diagram below, mainly the T121/69 connection, it is the most common problem.
Please read reasons and/or causes on previous pages.

According to your Autoscan T41/2 and T41/3 are already present in your 6R.

Thank you for your replay.
I have read the whole topic looking for answer.

I have already checked the t121/69 connection a few times. I’m not sure if I used a proper connector for this place. This one below doesn’t fit properly. Can you tell me which one will be good?
I will check the whole white wire as you said.

There are three possible T81 connectors, take a picture of your connector. In some of them the indicated terminals have been replaced by other references.

However, the MQS terminal should work fine for all of them.

No, it's not an MQS vor the 1J0906385C ECU plug.
The terminals are these: https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/4000900028296.html

The OEM reference is 000979018

Which is no longer available according to ETKA.

Let's wait to see the connector to dictate sentence... 🤭

Buy the connector from the scrapyard and extract the wire with terminal, solder your wire to it...

Guys, after few weeks, buying the 000 979 049e terminal and changing it still doesn’t work.
I checked ecu connector, bcm connector, e45 connector and it looks good. I even checked the direction of the diode. I put terminals into proper places.
I don’t know what to do

Did you measure voltage on all pins?

No, I didn't.
How much current can I apply to the terminals?
Can you tell me how to measure it?

What you could do is disconnect the connector you want to measure, in this case ECU.
Then switch on ignition, it will have many warning lights. The wire in question should have 12V when the CC switch on the stalk is set to ON.
That's probably the easiest way to check. Your error indicates that the ECU is not receiving the correct 12V signal when the switch is set. Either it is not receiving 12V (wiring problem) or the wire is in the wrong position.
