my car has succumbed to the classic mk3 problem

yes, i thought i was lucky with my car, but no, my fuel tank has started leaking where the filler neck reaches the tank! that would be a new one of those please

Hard luck mate. Such a common problem and its all down to a simple cleaning process being missed out during manufacturing!

And yours is even more of a pain because it's right at the tank rather than part way up the filler - and i had to be 1/3 full before it stopped dripping
(mechanic showed me the old one though, and where they broke the pipe off to get the tank out more easily..... LOADS of rust there too, same place as yours)
insist they properly underseal it though, even if its more, unless you feel up to doing the job yourself immediately. i've got to do mine first chance i can because the garage obviously thought that wasnt worth doing (hopefully it's got silver zinc paint on, but i've a feeling it's bare steel!) but the car will still have covered about 500 miles with the new tank by the time that happens! Gonna be hell to properly clean so the stuff sticks.

I got mine done for £75, thats for everything, parts, labour, tax and whatever else they'd like to charge you for
