Can Voice activation be added afterwards?

Just pondering this as all the parts are present, wondering if it was a simple case of recoding and updating software or does something else need to be added?

The 6c has Bluetooth handsfree so in theory it's all presentiichel wrote:You will need a microphone for it and connect it to your audio headunit. I'm not sure all of the head units support it though.
And, of course, code it.

Except its a ripoff extra. Plus if you don't spec it you get a useless button on the wheeliichel wrote:But, instead of retrofitting a microphone, buying a 6C is also a way to get voice activation
I believe it is all covered under the new VW system that stops retrofits. You need to get it added to the VW master server which then generates a code to activate the system. Not a simple VCDS tweak. Its the same reason you cant retrofit an oem discover system, as it needs activating.Doc_House wrote:Don't be deceived by the plate mine is a 2015 6c Polo SE with the Composition Media Unit - It's got Blue Tooth and Phone Kit so surely just a recoding job?
Really? My parents have a '14 Skoda Superb, and it doesn't have proper 'voice activation', but the button on the steering wheel brings up the voice commands for the Bluetooth system. Unfortunately it's not a simple pass-through to the phone though, as I've always found modern phone voice control systems to be far superior to anything a car manufacturer has ever done, be they Siri, Google Now, or Cortana.rsmagee wrote:Except its a ripoff extra.
