Hi,
I have recently purchased a 10 plate polo 1.2 TSI sat on 17" boavista alloys. It looks like a bit of a monster truck on the rear so im looking to get it lowered.

What would people suggest I should lower it by? Baring in mind my wife will be driving it with no acknowledgement of speed bumps. Also I dont want it rubbing with 2 adults in the back.

Mine is on h&r 25/40 and sits just right in my opinion ride is fermer but fine no rubbing at all.

that looks sweet. have you had 2 adults in the back? I thought mine had been on a jack and hadnt settled at first lol

Ive got the 35/55 and the ride is really harsh, really harsh. Youll be fine with two adults in the back, had three in the back of mine and no rubbing on my 18s.

Ive got black Boavistas. Just lowered mine 25/40 H & R sport. Ride is fine and not massively different to standard. Car feels far more planted.

Also getting 5 mpg more since the lowering which is weird.

I can recommend spacers 10mm each front corner and 20mm each rear corner. Car looks better and is more sure footed

thanks for the replys. ill look into the spacers. iv seen the springs that ratio on ebay.

If your doing it yourself, let me know and I'll give you a list of tools you'll need as there's a couple of tricky buts with special tools required.

As above, the H&Rs along with the Eibach Pro Kit will drop it without it looking stupid.

For DiY, spring compressors and ball joint splitter are the only specialist tools needed.

I don't think many people do, but after a drop that big, you should get the tracking done and also get the headlight aiming checked as the range will be slightly reduced after the lowering.

who would check the headlight aiming vw?

The spacers aren't necessary, they just give the car a better stance
The headlight aim can be checked by any mot test station

No not yet but going to get some 15mm for the rear and maybe 10mm for the front

I will have some 2 month old 25/40 h&r spring available at the end of next week if you are interested?
