Is it the 3cyl 1.2 or the TSI? I have the Polo S 60PS and was wondering the same thing!

Haha yeah mines the little 60bhp one too, Supersprint make an exhaust system for it, don't know the power gains but its not cheap, when I looked it was about €450 [WEARY FACE]

A clean stock air filter would be just as good as an aftermarket one, quite a few dyno tests show that even running no filter gives negligible gains.
Exhaust might give u a few bhp, more noise than any power gain though
I'd find out what the difference between the 60 PS and 70 PS 1.2 is. It might be like the 1.6, all hardware the same, just a different map on the ECU. So that would be an easy 10ps to gain

would you recommend any exhausts?

and i heard the 60hp is a 6v whereas the 70 is a 12v which gives it the extra power

No I think the 60PS is still a 12v, or that's what I can make it out from the Haynes manual anyway!

I put a cheap cone filter on mine and I wasn't too impressed, only got more noise of you put your put down and it damages your fuel economy too. Perhaps a more one fully fitted would be better but certainly don't waste your money on a cheap Halfords one!

I have searched high & low on many polo forums for the same question regarding the 70PS engine, the general consensus is that for only an extra 2-4hp increase it is not worth any money or effort.

The 1.2 TSI engine is your answer

Is this becoming the most intelligent reply from some people on some forums. It is certainly not answering or helping with the answer. I have recently seen the same said on the vw t5 forum and i am shocked with that attitude. Maybe not everyone could afford a bigger engine and if it was cheaper/easier to sell then the OP would have already done that!
A true intelligent answer would give suggestions of performance upgrades, if you do not know then do not reply.

If funds are available to spend on mods, why wouldn't you be able to sell and use the extra funds on buying a 1.2 tsi?
For decent gains in power on a 1.2 you'd be looking to spend in the 1000s, and I can guarantee it won't be easy in doing so.

So seeing as though you thought my reply wasn't very intelligent, what would you suggest to gain more power from the 1.2 N/A?

Well it was not intelligent at all otherwise everyone would simply sell their cars and buy a better model!!. Insurance is possibly something that needs to be taken into consideration when people buy a 1.2, they may have been given it as a first car or by their other half, fuel consideration might be something to thing about and the repayments on finance may not have allowed for a better model.

I did not comment on the actual thread because I am interested in the answer too. At a guess a k&N replacement filter, exhaust and other bolt on mods might be available, I am sure the lupo or ibiza guys n girls would have a much more reliable answer then what you have supplied on this thread. The OP asked because he would have hoped for some answers from people that actually had done mods or knew what mods could be done.

As I type a tsi is nearly £4k more then a match. Some how I cannot see mods being over £4k unless you go absolutely stupid on mods, the OP is not wanting Ferrari speed out of the polo simply make it faster.... and sound better (see first post).

Like I say your answer was not intelligent compared with all the other answers and all the other threads I have read so far on this great forum.
