Just a quick post to say Hi. I have had a polo gti from new for 15 years, thought it was about time I joined. Black 3 door with 112000 miles. Try to post some pics.

Hi,
So tell us about it's maintenance history. How many gearbox changes have you had so far?

Really not necessary if it was taken care of

Agreed. Some can last the lifetime of the car

So how do you do that, besides checking/replacing the gear shifter linkage seal and driving it like it is a SDI?

Regular oil changes with genuine VW fluid and not abusing it

As above, 155,000 miles on the original box and clutch
The release bearing is noisy though

It's had 2 gearbox rebuilds, one at 52000 and one at just over 100000. It has a 13 year VW service history and last 2 years by the garage that rebuilt the gearbox twice. It has had money spent on it and I would like to think it's been well looked after.
