I'm looking into getting my gti remapped, but not seen any decent price to outputs just yet. Has anyone had theirs mapped, and or could possibly point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

revo or APR i suppose. REVo normally have a summer deal and knock 25% off, so maybe wait until then?

I would also suggest your gti is out of warranty before doing or, or alternatively get a tuning box which is easily removed any time!

I trawled the Internet and spoke to many tuning companies about remapping my GTI last year, and it was an experience.
If the companies could be bothered to reply to my emails and/or return my telephone calls, then the general advice was 'we might need to remove the ECU and send it off somewhere to get it altered before we could map it', or 'we don't map the twin charger engine, too much hassle' and even 'we can do it, but we need the car for 3 days'. None of that left me with much confidence to be honest!
I contacted a couple of tuning box companies, and TMC got in touch first and were very helpful indeed. That's what I ended up with, I've had it on for 20,000 miles now, and it has been flawless. I have VCDS and regularly scan the car for faults and there have been none. It also flew through its MOT emissions test last month as well.
The maps/boxes only really come into their own once the turbo takes effect, before that the supercharger is doing the work and none of the maps can alter that. With the box fitted, my car really picks up its skirt from 3500 onwards and makes it even more fun to drive. I've found fuel economy has increased a couple of mpg too.
I'd recommend one anyway, it's easy to fit, no hassle taking the car anywhere, easy to remove (a plug is supplied so that you don't have to remove the wiring harness if you remove the box), and TMC will reflash the unit if you change cars in the future.
I do quite like the idea of the bluefin unit, I understand that you need to take it to a superchips dealer for an ECU removal first though, before you can use the OBD unit.
Revo seem to be well regarded too if you want to stay on the map route.

Mines Revo stage one Remap. Cost me £349 from a garage in Hull
Only thing i would reccommend is get some irdium spark plugs to compliment your remap (reduce risk of misfire)
Apart from that, the map is brilliant! Guaranteed 215bhp. Power delivery is throughout the rev range and just keeps you pinned!
hope this helps

Hi Josherswilson - could you tell us what year your car is etc. Also, what's your oil consumption like with the remap and plugs, better/worse than before, how much do you get through per 1000 miles?
thanks

Mines a 2012. Oil consuption is okay to be honest, looking at 1.0litre per 1000miles. which i dont think is bad to say your getting 215bhp from a 1.4. If anything the oil consuption is better than before. Definitely worth doing in my opinion

My oil consumption has dropped off too since the box was fitted.
I'm at about 1l per 2500 miles now, which is still miles more than any car I've had, but better than the 1l per 1500 miles it was.
Mind you, I have put 25000 miles on it since I've had it, it's on 55000 miles total now, so maybe the miles have something to do with it?
Or, maybe I drive it how it was meant to be driven?!
