I would Just like to say I took your advice Josh and brought some toyo proxes for my GTI. Oh boy! it feels a completely different ride to when I was running michelins. I mean it just sticks to the road and holds,holds,holds and holds . I dont know if there going to last very long but frankly I dont care, its the bo**ocks. I recommed these tyres and to top it all off a local dealer sells em for 42 quid balanced and fitted. Go get a set for the summer!

I used to get 3 months out of the front tyres (about 5k miles) but 12 months (20k miles) from the rears.

Just watch out in snow (if you've still got them on in the winter) as they're really not much use then...

Apart from that, I really can't fault them.
