All,
Hope you are well.
Have had my polo since 2010, had 66k on the clock at time of purchase.
I had it serviced on purchase (good quality oil, all filters, timing belt, metal impeller water pump, front brake discs and pads)
Other than this it has been regularly serviced, oil change annually, full service in 2013 using original VW parts and another timing belt and water pump in 2014 just to be on the safe side.
Having suffered turbo failure on the other family car using a recommended oil (by GSF) which was just poor, I dont skimp on part costs and always try to buy the best my wage allows.
In 2014 replaced two cam shaft/cam position sensors.
It was at the garage the other day for an oil change and investigation into why the ABS light was on. ABS issue is posted on another thread.
Garage noted that the car was running a little off, he said the smell from the exhaust was off and said there could be something seriously wrong with the engine.
Have been using Millers EcoMax diesel prior with cheaper fuel, now use Shell fuel on its own.
Currently on 105k.
Seems to be asking for more money which is expected due to mileage and age.
Just wanted to know other experiences and if they know what the above issue could be.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
