I'm still having trouble with my ISV.
If i poke at it or remove the plug on the left hand side of the throttle body, it comes to life and works for a day, but after an overnight period it just stops working whe I come to start it in the morning...
Same witht he flashing coolant water light.

Any one else had trouble with their ISV or can anyone point me in the right direction? I've cleaned it and WD-40'd it.

:(

Might be a dodgey contact on the plug. Try cleaning the contacts and have a check of the condition of the wiring.

Sticky ISV valves is a very common problem with a lot of cars, not just Polos. I've heard of loads of people having the same trouble. My dads old Vecra used to have a sticky valve and it would just cut out randomly at traffic lights. However, we solved this by soaking it for a few hours in petrol then spraying a bit of WD-40 in it.

The ISV valve is basically a little step motor or solenoid. It's possible that yours may just need replacing.

Dan, if it aint causing you trouble, you don't need to check it over :?

And besides, a dodgey ISV isn't gona effect you R/R results!
