Even stranger: why is it the only model in the entire range that can't have the factory-fit LED light option?

if it makes you feel any better, the Bluemotion 6C and CrossPolo 6C also still have the Xenon upgrade and not the LED headlights.
Edit: and in Switserland, only with a petrol engine currently. LOL

The S has those headlamps too. Weird.
I don't understand why they didn't just put the glossy lower vents and the new lamps/upper grille like they did with the R-Line. Same for the Bluemotion.

Must be due to lower emissions with xenon

Than LED? Doubt it. The Golf GTE and e-Golf get LED lamps over the Xenons due to the lower power consumption (obviously very important in EVs!)

I was also told that the unavailability of the LED lights on the BGT could be due to emissions regulations. Quite ironic with the benefit of hindsight

But there are no emission problems with the gasoline engines from VW.

That sounds like the dealer making excuses IMO. They wouldn't be putting LEDs in their electric cars if the xenons used less power!

LED's do use less power that Xenon... Xenon bulbs use around 40.000 Volt (suppliedfrom the box on the bottum of the headlight.)

First off... bi-xenon was not standard in all countries. That is was in yours is purely a decission that the VW importer in our country has made, that they didn't want to sell it with halogen headlights.
The BlueGT didn't gat facelifted as it was released just before VW came out qith the facelift (6C). Some of the features from the BlueGT have on the other hand been used on facelifted models.
The 6C Bluemotion have now got the spoiler from the 6R BlueGT/GTI and rearwindow side pieces introduced on the 6R BlueGT.

can be both. it's just that the exterior wasn't really updated when the facelift of the 6R (the 6C) was introduced, only the tail lights changed.
