Radio k-line diagnostics damage

I fitted an aftermarket radio in August and since then have had all sorts of electrical and diagnostic problems (alternator light, pas light, brake light, EDC light, engine management light) and lots of money spent. All this culminated in a tow truck from Sheffield to London last week. Not fun.

I have now dug deeper in this forum and have learnt about the k-line connector at the back of the radio that causes such problems. I have refitted the old VW radio again. Garage had it today and said diagnostic system says all is ok.

My question is - will this have resulted in damage to the car electrics / diagnostic system, ie further grief, or will everything revert to normal now the old radio is back.

thanks

Ah well, that is a result!

Years and years ago, all early VAG-COM diagnostic kit owners were well advised to check "which" radio was fitted before connecting to the diagnostic port, as these issues could and would destroy the early interfaces. (VAG-COM was the original name for VCDS)
