Finally got a Polo (And yet another VCDS question)

Hi all,
Im now the proud owner of a 1.2 TDI 2013 Polo Match. Well pleased, from driving a Corsa D that appears to have a drinking problem...
Sorry if this question has been asked 1000's of times, but im new to this, so bear with me. First question would be, basically the main thing I'm looking to do is turn on coming home/leaving home lighting, as I'm always out to work when it is dark so i miss this easy feature from the Corsa, when i could enable it from the dash control.
Im getting mixed messages from internet searching, Can i enable coming home/leaving home with shareware free/shareware VCDS, or do i need to pay for full VCDS ( i dont mind doing this, im sure ill make use of it).
If im buying in that case will this https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_VCHU.html be compatible with the Polo, im assuming this one https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_VCMC.html will not do as it will only support 2015+ polos with the 6c chassis..
Just want to make sure before (if i need to) i splash out on £200 on a cable!
Cheers guys,
Mike.
