Chaps,

Need you assistance on something...

My motor insurance comes up for renewal soon and I'm wondering where/whom you guys are insured with. I've had some quotes but they seem to be on the expensive side, I've been to Adrian Flux and they have quoted me £1070, Norwich Union, £1090 and AA £1200!

I'm 27, one years no claims, single and my car is standard apart from the lowering which seems to be the aspect that causing the main problems in getting quotes...last year I paid £968 which at the time was the cheapest quote.

Hope you can help! Cheers!

Mines 535 Fully comp / protected no claims with Halifax but i think the policy is actually with e-sure.

I'm 31 with 8 years no claims...though i did have an own fault claim year before last which puts my price up a little even with protected no claims.

Cheers

Dave.

I'm with CIS insurance i pay £560 28 no NCB and 3 points...although i only drive a 1043.
CIS was the cheapest company for me by miles...£1400 for a audi coupe quattro 2.2ltr 5cylinder, everyone else wanted over 2 grand.

Direct Line. Try an online quote for a little more discount.

I'm 23, 4yrs NCB and I paid £550 but ramped it up a couple of hundred quid with protected NCB and my Mum on as named driver (for which she kindly donated £50).

I'm up for renewal on the 1st of September and I'm looking at roughly £460-480 before considering the extras I had this year. As a general rule of thumb protected NCB is 5-8% extra on top of the original quote.

BTW, Tesco are Direct Line under a different name (compare the letterheads and form layouts!) and usually about 10% cheaper, but not always!

And finally... if you're going to be doing some serious modding (bodykit, NOS, big alloys etc.), Adrian Flux? Wasn't there a UK-Polos.net discount with them? I don't know if that works tbh but always worth a try, I'll be giving it a go in a month's time!

HTH :D

Cheers chaps, you certainly given me lots of places to check out...

Update, got my recent Performance VW mag and checked out those insurance ads in the back...tried HIC, wasn't willing to insure me because of the Sheffield postcode, Greenlight refused me a quotation too, Bondlovis gave me £950 but Barry Grainger quoted me the best so far at £856!

I have kind of accepted the fact that I won't get cheap motor insurance until I build up some NCBs...ah well...everything seems to come at once, got the MOT to do soon and the warranty/roadside assistance comes up for renewal soon (if I decide to take it!).

Thanks again!

Postcodes do have a big impact on the premium - I moved last year and got £150 instantly knocked off my premium. Nice!!
