Passenger door locking issues

Hello, im new to this forum and would like some advice. I currently have a 02 plate vw polo 1.9 sdi, 5 door. Recently i have had a problem with the front passenger door not unlocking when i use the key in the drivers door. However if i go and put the key in the front passenger door it will normally unlock itself and the rest of the car, and will then lock itself and the rest of the car too. Although i tried this again today and it wasnt as reliable, it took a few attempts to lock it again after opening it. It just seems odd that it will mostly lock and unlock when the key is in the passenger door, but when in the drivers side door nothing happens at all. (although it did use to work, and slowly got worse until it completely failed) Anyway, the rest of the doors lock and open as they should. I do not have remote central locking and usually unlock the door from the drivers door with the key. My guesses are that the motor is faulty in the passenger door and needs to be replaced, but then again i have no expertise in this area. any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's likely a faulty motor. Very common on these Polos sadly.

A replacement from VW is around £100. The micro switches insides fail then the lock refuses to work when operated from another lock in the system
