6N2 GTI cam box

the cam box on my son's GTI is cracked and leaking oil onto the #1 spark plug, I can get a 1.4 16V cam box from a 104km motor, does anyone know if this cam box is compatible with the 1.6 16V engine?

Do you mean the rocker cover on top of the engine?
No you'll need a GTI one as it has different oil paths and a hole for the VVT valves and sensors

the cam box sits on top of the head and holds the cams, like this:

Yeah that's the bit
No it's GTI specific - again different oil paths due to the VVT

thanks for that, turns out the info from the non-mechanical son was wrong, it's just the seals blown still big $$$$$!
