The cherry bomb backbox is definitely not to most people's taste and will be extremely loud for just a 1.2 engine.

I have a 1.2tsi (R-Line), too and I have a custom exhaust without the backbox and it isn't too loud or intrusive.

Air filter: For me, the car didn't perform as well with it on and the induction noise got quite irritating everytime the throttle was pressed.

I have done the LED Headlights, lowered 25/30mm and interior lights - recommend all of these.

Also looking for a remap which would be perfect for car because it is already no slouch but with a few more ponies it would be perfect for the size.

I also recommend upgrading the RCD310DAB unit as I don't think they are very pretty to look at.

To be honest the back box gives it a nice sound without it being too chavvy or loud.

The filter I don't get much if any induction noise

The remap was done by a friend of a friend and was custom written the same day I took it in, left with him all day and holy sh*t do you notice the difference, great fun on windy little back roads!

I'm not too fussed about the RCD310DAB at the minute as I mostly just play music through my phone. I work at VW myself and even at staff price a genuine replacement unit is just stupid money. Have you changed yours?

Yes I originally had the RCD310DAB and then went to the RCD510DAB and now the RNS315.

Really want a custom map. I'd only get an induction kit if I had my car custom mapped with the filter installed. Where did you get it done?

Do you also have a link to the filter you're using as all I find are the induction kits.

Did you buy the units from VW or a private sale?

K&N actually list a full box which is a direct replacement to the original air box which includes the filter. couple of bolts and a straight swap;

Obviously both carry the 1 million mile warranty with them so they're good to go for 100,000 miles before they even need cleaned.

A custom exhaust is great as you can get the tone and sound that you want.

Although a gti catback exhaust is a direct fit or so ive been told.

I totally agree with you on the map, it makes such a huge difference! Especiallh if you get a custom map done to suit your engine.

I opted for coilovers though as my shocks were going being just sat on some 30mm eibachs.

Also for the filter, i run a velocity stack instead for summer and a k&n replacement filter for winter. Velocity stack gives a great sound and improved response from the engine.

I've had my springs in since the car was a week old and not had any problems so far with shockers

Yeah apart from the actual downpipe which has a different connection size off the engine everything is the same fitment (obviously except double exit tailpipe)

Did you get the box with your filter mate? or just the filter on it's own and used the OEM box?

No Lee I just got the filter as that was the only choice at the time (about a year ago)

Any idea if the gti exhaust is deffo the same? Been looking into this but no solid answer. Looks the same to me

I went to exhaust uk and they had my car on the ramp and told me that the GTI exhaust from catback to backbox would be a direct fit as it runs the same path and should bolt straight on.

I declined to get it fitted though cos they wanted £1200 lol!
