Did anyone see the silver GTI with leather on the VW website (15.07.04) up at £8,995?

It was the only one with leather and had only done 23k.

Is this a lot of money for a top spec GTI, or is this to be expected now they are becoming rare?

Insurance quotes for polo's is chepaer than a golf, but i am led to believe polo GTI's are quicker.

Is it true that the polo GTI is quicker than a Mk3 2.0 GTI / Mk4 1.8T GTI (150bhp) because of the lightness of the car?

I look forward to hearing your views.

from a dealer that price doesn't sound too suprising, and in terms of performance the I think the polo is at least at fast as both the mk3 and mk4

Welcome btw :)

If you check out the VW web site and adtrader online, £8,995 for a 3-door 51 plate with leather is good.

When I asked my local dealer what a polo GTI would go for, they said between £8-10K in good condition (bear in mind this is the retailer sell price).

Considering the spec you get on a GTI as standard, £9k is not a lot to pay for the car. What else would you buy for that sort of money - a Saxo, Corsa sxi, Fiat punto, - no thank you.

Basically, if buying from a VW dealer add about £1000.00

A Gti with leather is really rare, so you can't go off the book price for that.

The book price from a dealer for a X reg GTi with 30k miles is 7200, thats not the sticker price though thats what you would pay after haggling etc.

The summerise VWs in general depreciate slowly and more so top marques like GTis and 16v models etc, you are paying over the odds for a polo gti at the price but your getting so much more than you would with a saxo VTS or something similar. I wouldnt even contemplate getting anything else with the same money.

I'm not too fussed about leather seats though, although i think they come heated which is neat in winter.
