Hi all,

Wondering if any local HG postcode members have any suggestions for a local VW indie garage for a service, seen Vasstech in Knaresborough after a quick Google?
Many thanks!

If you spoke to Alex Perkins, he asked me where I go, this place is an independent BMW, Audi and VAG specialist.

Great, thanks Alan- just called Auto Logic now and told them that I got their name from this forum, and the guy at the garage said yours was in there now! I'll tell our son and see what he wants to do -use AutoLogic or the local garage, seem pretty similar on price as far as basic and bigger services go for a 1.2 petrol model

Hi, yeah, mine is in for MOT at the moment. They are really good mechanics at this place. Genuine and honest. Its hard to come by these standards nowadays.

These are VW, Audi and BMW specialists that have many years experience working on these type of cars, so not like a general garage that work on all makes. They can do other cars too, but they are specialists.

Ive always taken my car to independent VAG specialists.

What do you need done on your car?

Thanks for the tip, basically the Polo hasn't had a service for at least a year, was v low on oil when bought, topped it up and seems to be retaining most tho spotting on the drive still. So would doubtless benefit from a full service (plugs, fuel filter etc etc) rather than a basic one/oil change. The washer bottle doesn't retain the screen washer mixture either- water leaking from nearside front wheel arch - apparently they are prone to the hose joints coming adrift somewhere but suspect a broken washer bottle rather than a hose joint leak...

On mine there is a hose that goes into underneath the bottle and that part, I can't remember what it's called was replaced, had to take the battery out and remove battery tray to access it.

As soon as I tried to put screen wash in, it would slowly empty out over night.

If this is a new car that was bought, I would actually give it a full service. Then you know and peace of mind that it's running correctly.

Yep, thanks Alan, reckon we'll do that- I've offered to go halves with him to lessen the impact on his Saturday job wages! Auto Logic said around £170-£190 inc VAT for a full service, £90 for a basic one....

The thing about the screen wash coming out and not staying in the tank, on my car i have this washer pump that i changed, shown in the photo below.

I had to remove the battery and battery tray to access it properly. Underneath the car i could see the screen wash leaking onto the anti roll bar. Shown below,

The part in the photo has the pump that is attached to the bottle at bottom. I changed that faulty valve and screen wash no longer leaks.

On your 9n2 it must be similar to mine.

Thanks Alan, that's really useful info- I'll have a look at ours and see if there is a similar issue with the valve as per yours,

Much appreciated!
