One of the little jobs to do on my list when the weather warms up a bit is to change the WW pump (works ok for front but not rear) I got access to it through the N/S wheel arch plastic liner,and the outlet from the pump to the rear plastic hose is almost completely broken off (the clue was water dripping under the front of the wing )
Anyway I have bought a new Febi pump -

My question is - is there a seal between the pump and the bottle ??

Yes there is, though its fitted into the bottle so you wont need to replace it

I'd think that it would be a good thing to use a spot of rubber grease on the spigot of that new pump so that you did not harm that now slightly hardened with age seal in the bottle?

Brrrr - yes we were not far from there a few weeks back as well walking a few old railway bridges and lines along with an old airfield or two but the weather was at least dry

Until the weather does warm up - I am happy to keep topping up the washer bottle LOL

Ah well - changed the WW pump today and found that the leak was caused by the little elbow for the front washer pipe not locking on properly - also the pipe is not quite long enough to let the elbow lock on square to the pump.But still no water getting to the rear washer pipe (pipe is disconnected at tail gate) and no visible leaks.
I have ordered 2 new elbows and pipe from vw .
I had to leave the car as it started raining heavily and did not have time to look at the 'pipe run' up to the bonnet,I am hoping I can reroute the front pipe to help the new elbow lock on properly.

Had a couple of days of reasonable weather last week so thought I would get the washers fixed : )
I had to go to VW anyway to pick up a CTS so had decided to buy a couple of elbows and pipery (although I wish I hadn't bothered with the pipery I it is cr@p LOL).
Anyway the elbow is slightly different to original (hope it works better)



I had only removed 6 or 7 wheel arch liner screws from the front/underside and did not want to remove any more because of the changeable weather (minimum strip down!) so I decide that the easiest way to fix the front washers was to fit some new pipe up the gap at the power steering reservoir and route it up the inner wing direct to the connector,I only had to cut off 25mm of scuttle seal and flattened approx. 25mm of the metal seal angle to allow the pipe a route with no chafing,the black tape is just anti chafe as I could not find any other sleeving handy !





Job done and washers working very well

Thanks Alex - I just worry a little that sub zero overnight temps might push the elbow off the washer pump if the wash tank freezes LOL

Just add more screen wash to lower the freezing temperature

Yeh I have done that but its still a worry in the frozen north

My washer concentrate goes down to -65 if you mix it strong enough lol

Perhaps I should stop being so stingy with it
