Hi,

Hoping to raise my engine to get a little bit of life out of the typical chocolate gearboxes.

Just looking for some advice on what has been used to do so?

Thank you in advance.

Elliott

Not sure what you mean by raisers? What are you wanting to do exactly?

Hi mate,

Thanks for answering, raise the level of my engine from the ground. So the shafts sit straighter in the box, as the car has been lowered and I am just tearing through gearboxes!

I know it can be done, and I've heard longer bolts and hockey pucks work, but that sounds a little bit dangerous to me.

Thanks,

Elliott

Why do you think that CV joint angles affect the internals of a gearbox ?

The angles the shafts are entering in the gearbox is at a harsh angle.

What else could be causing a recently refurbished box to go on a lowered car?

Thanks,

The CV joints can take a fair angle.

The shaft entering the box is a fixed angle - unless you are attempting to force the CV joint further than it can safely go that should make little difference

It depends what has failed in the refurbished box

GKN spec standard CV joints can take between 25-30 degrees of angle, I doubt you are anywhere near that.

I think you need to separate the box failure from the suspension ride height. What has failed on each occasion ?
