Hi guys, i'm looking at getting one of these: http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performan ... uction-kit

I'm pretty close to going for it but just wanted to check with everyone on here i'm doing the right thing. I think this replaces the air box although if it does then the air being sucked in wouldn't be any cooler, so is this not a cold air intake? Any help is welcome and if you know of any better alternatives around this price it would be really helpful. Thanks :)

Even for the Polo R WRC, the OEM filter is fine. Do the math :p

the stock is fine. I don't want fine. I want to squeeze every drop of the powerful elixir that is horsepower out of my little 1.2 that i can....

seriously though, would it not increase the power or fuel efficiency at all?

Although your wallet would be lighter which might make the car microscopically faster.

In virtually all cases the sole effect is to make the car louder and a little sexier looking under the bonnet.

The biggest improvement I have seen in dynometer testing was in the region of 1% and that was in a fifteen year old car with very restrictive air filters. The preoccupation with emmision and fuel consumption testing means that few manufacturers will now risk turning out a car without top rate filtration.

I have been thinking the same, however you wont see any improvement in performance by just bolting one on - only a noise difference on acceleration.

However, if you got a remap done, the cold intake will allow the technician to squeeze more out of the engine.

True, been there, done that however in virtually every case you could squeeze as much extra power out simply by putting in a new VW filter, they have a flow rate greatly in excess of anything you will need unless you are building a WRC or BTCC car. Adverts will tell you a different story, so would I if I was trying to sell you one!
