Temperature sits around 70

Hi all,

My temperature has always sat at 90 in the middle when driving around but lately it has been sitting around about 70 degrees.

I plugged in my ECU reader and observed the live data which shows its running at 68-69 degrees all the time and the gauge on dash reports 70. No faults on the ECU.

Had the temperature sender changed first but no joy!

Just had the thermostat replaced... and guess what? No Joy! :(

Does anyone have any suggestions on what could be wrong here please?

Mechanic who replaced the thermostat has advised its an after market one, and seeming the temperature still isn't right we have an OEM one on order to fit next week.

I cant understand why a replacement would show the same temperature on the dash, even if it is an after market one?

Is there something we are missing here? Any help will be greatly appreciated. :D

Just found an article that sounds the same as mine referring to the housing of the thermostat: -

Will get an OEM thermostat and the housing fitted next week and will report back on the result. The housing being defective and allowing the pin to come out too far sounds very plausible.
