hi

ok so the car has been sat out on the road for a couple of months, tried starting it and the battery had died. (expected) but the car still tried to turn over.
so i too the battery out and tried charging it, but didn't charge. not sure if it was the battery or the charger. so a week later i went and brought a new battery and fitted it. i turned the key and all the normal lights came on but when i tried to start it i got nothing! no click, didn't turn over.

anyone got any ideas?

thanks

wayne

Right just to clarify things, car has sat without being used for a long time, you tried to start it and it turned over but not fast/long enough to start due to the battery being discharged/old, so you fitted a new correct size charged battery, now the instrument lights come on but when you try to start it nothing happens?

Did all the lights go out when you tried to start it, if so then maybe starter has now seized, if the lights stayed on when you tried to start it then I'd think that the starter is not seized, but the solenoid might not be working?

Edit:- maybe check that the control wire to the starter solenoid is still good, if you know what you are doing, maybe try connecting the starter directly to the battery to check if it can be made to run, but be careful!
