6n2 1.4tdi engine runs on

When I turn the ignition key off the engine seems to clonk to a stop 1 or 2 seconds afterwards rather than stopping immediately. Is this normal for the 3 cylinder 1.4tdi or if not any ideas?

Is that common rail?
Sounds like a sticking fuel solenoid to me.

No, these are PD engines
As diesel works on compression, theres no spark to cut so the final revolution has to complete before the engine shuts off.

At 1000 RPM that would be 0.06s
The XUD's suffered a bit from failing fuel stop solenoids, can't say i've had one stick open though.
If it's common rail that's irrelevant.
